My beloved old Braun immersion blender died last night and I need a new one. The motor is in great shape, but the plastic gave way. Sad. Have been reading lots of reviews and it seems to top 2 contenders lately are the Cuisinart Smart Stick and a Kitchen Aid one. Both are the basic 1-speed models. Anyone have any preferences to one over the other, or suggest something else that they love? I'm told that Braun stopped selling small electrics in the US, aside from razors, so I'm looking at other brands.

A little old chat here: http://www.portlandf...mersion blender

I have heard that the KitchenAids are great. I don't have one, myself.

I got it in red. hahaa. I have nothing red in this house, so why not. :-) Thanks! It's squash soup season! Can't live without the stick blender.

Those deals are only good for an hour usually. That always happens to me too: I buy something and then I see it go on sale the following week!

Easy cleaning tip for immersion blenders: Put some water in a bowl or the blender's mixing container and run the blender in it. It took me two years to figure that one out. I guess I'm just gifted that way.
