I had my first pine state biscuit this morning and it was pretty damn good. I think it's definitely the best hot food at the farmer's market, if a little on the unhealthy side. Apparently they are opening up a restaurant soon, somewhere near SE 37th & Belmont. Anyone got the scoop? I have some photos of the grotesquely delicious biscuit and the biscuiteers at work up on public press: Pine State Biscuits

I eat one every Saturday, it's a terrible addiction. Every week you notice that they're just a little bit different, and today's was a bit of a disappointment for me. It seemed dryer than usual, but still good.

I waited for a few minutes at the end of a very long line yesterday -- realized that the line hadn't moved and there were about another half dozen people on the side of the booth who'd ordered, but were waiting for their food. Did some math and figured I was in for a far longer wait than I was psychologically prepared for so I moved on. But I'd like to try them sometime -- the gravy looked yummy.

A few weeks ago, I waited in the Pine State biscuit line for about 15 minutes, then spent 15 more minutes waiting for my biscuit sandwich to get made. It was good, but not 30-minute-wait good.

Agreed. My husband and I took turns waiting in line last week (One of us foraged for fruits/veggies while the other commiserated in line with the other biscuit seekers). Frankly, I liked everything IN the biscuit more than the biscuit itself (i.e. nicely fried egg, excellent thick cut bacon, slice of Tillamook cheddar). The biscuit was a little too salty and lacked a certain amount of rise (it was pretty flat). I guess they need surface area to hold all the fillings but I was a little disappointed (think they use a mix?). While the biscuit certainly wasn't bad I do not think I need to wait in line for 40 minutes to get one.

I'll be interested to see where they are located on Belmont. From your description, I'd guess it's the site formerly occupied by Ollie's Skateboards (and which was then a coffeeshop for like 3 weeks), located right next to the Triple Nickel.

Yeah the wait is insane. If you get there before nine you're in good shape, or if you have some friends that you meet there who always get there early, while you're running late, wait in line and order for you that works nicely, too. :(

Looks like they have launched a website. http://www.pinestatebiscuits.com It says Winter 2007 with an address of 3640 SE Belmont St. I think that is this green or gray condo/retail spot with paper in the front windows: (streetview) http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&....79352670483295

I've been wanting to try them out at the Market but I just can't wait in a line that long for biscuits. Can't do it.

FWIW, the construction permit cites "Cup", the name of the former inhabitant.

I heard from a little birdie that they are running into the inevitable zoning/permit/City of Portland crap that throws all kinds of wrenches into opening plans. My birdie told me SOON.

Ha I was wondering why 30 people had googled Reggie Deluxe yesterday (and found my photo) http://www.publicpress.org/entity?action=s...ity&id=8156

They also had an article written about them that got picked up in the Charlotte Observer and the Raleigh News & Observer back in Mid-Jan, for which they used some of my photos.

They were hoping to open today, but are waiting for a few final inspections to take place. They should be open in the next 7-10 days if all goes well.
