I was just wondering, is the picnic the official August event or should we plan a dinner, too? What does everyone think?

I assumed it was, but there's nothing to preclude two big events. You know, I've been aching for a big dinner at Pok Pok and isn't he bringing in his buddy from Chiang Mai to cook some time in August?

I haven't been to Pok Pok since they opened the restaurant so I wouldn't mind going there, especially since I can't talk Mr. Kristi into going.

I'd be interested in doing a PokPok thing if the timing works out for my schedule.

I think PokPok would be too much heat (peppers for me) but I have been thinking about that movie we talked about after Ratatoille. I'd be willing to give Dessert Noir another chance. It's been a year or something since we were there. My one thing is that I cannot do much of anything until after mid-month, but once my final is out of the way, I'd be up for that on Friday or Sat.

I've been wanting to try Dessert Noir, too, but I just haven't made it there yet. They are on restaurant.com.

I'd like to do something, selfishly, because I have to work the weekend of the picnic, otherwise I'd be all.over.it. Plus, I'm off running for at least several weeks (damn shins) so my schedule just, sadly, got a lot more free. I'm up for anything...that said I'll totally vote now for Pok Pok.

My vote is for Pokpok 'cause I've been wanting to do it with the group. Mom would be in for that one as well.

I'd be in for Pok Pok.

Kristi - do you want to take the reins on this one and pick a date?

Honestly, I wouldn't mind taking the reigns on a Pok Pok dinner.

Then go for it. What date(s) are you thinking?

Changed the name.

Called. They're pretty open as far as reservations go at this time. They can seat up to 24. Sounds like they generally just have everyone order individually, although if people are up for it, it could be fun to see if we can order family portions and taste a bit of everything. I'll try to call tomorrow and see what kind of options there are.

My preference is always for a weeknight just because I don't like to take up a whole dining room on a weekend when they could be turning tables. I don't want restaurants to think of a PortlandFood dinner as a burden. That's just my inclination. I would say either the 15th, 16th or 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd. Don't want it to bump up against the BBQ too much.

I would be interested in this little gathering. Bonus if he decided to try out some new stuff on a willing crowd.
Right now all of the listed dates are open on my Outlook.

In order of preference: 16th & 15th. I'd prefer not the 20th & after. My 2 cents.

Okay, I've got us down for 24 people on the 15th at 6:30pm. I need to confirm our number ASAP, so anyone interested, please speak up. I'll email something out tonight. I'm guessing we should be able to hold this to about $20/person without drinks.

Just got Nick's e-mail. Put me in for three for Pok Pok on the 16th. And thanks for the heads-up!
