Hi all!

I posted this on another site... but it was suggested that I might get more of a response here.

We're going to be shooting an episode of ANTHONY BOURDAIN: NO RESERVATIONS in the Pacific Northwest in early June.

In PORTLAND, OREGON we'd like to shoot a scene involving cooks / foodies showing off their CHEF and/or FOOD-RELATED TATTOOS, and are looking for participants willing to be on camera!

We'll be shooting this on SUNDAY, JUNE 4... exact time and venue TBD, but we're open to suggestions!

Please contact me directly via e-mail for more info if you're available and interested in participating... and please attach a photo of your tattoo(s), tell me a little about yourself, and include a contact phone number.

As we need to plan our shoots several weeks ahead of time, please contact me asap.

Thanks!

Welcome to the site, Diane. I'll sent out a mass email to all our members to try to get you a good response. I know we're all excited to have Tony here. He once gave me a hug when I told him I ate the tasting menu at Charlie Trotter's with my hands and I didn't wash for a week. And I'm not even gay.

btw, I just offered to get my first tattoo for the show. Either my extramsg logo or the chef/knife drawing Bourdain does.

Have him draw it on and then get it tattooed while they film.

I posted it to the Portland-themed LiveJournal community, since a good proportion of the posts are either of the "Where can I find X food" or "Where can I get X tattoo done" type.

This sounds intriguing, but I have always said I will never get a tattoo. It's an identifying mark. What if I ever have to turn to a life of crime? The first thing they'll say on America's Most Wanted is that she has tattoo of a panda on her left butt cheek and one of a zucchini on her right ankle, eh? I'm really too stupid to become a criminal, but you never know what you'll have to do at some point in your life to survive. I know, I know. People think this is an odd perspective.

Best regards,

Amanda

I just can't think of any image I'd want on my skin forever...laser removal not withstanding.

A friend sent me a note that a tattoo last a lot longer that 15 minutes. But truth is: what the hell am I saving my skin for? What's so damned sacred about a patch of MY skin? I'll be a lot more ashamed of how my stretchmarks look now than how any tattoo I might get will look in 30 years.

I've wanted a tatoo for years, I've just been too chicken to actually do it. I wanted to do it on my 30th birthday but I didn't, now I'm thinking I might do it on my 35th. I think it's pretty cool, Nick, and I can't wait to see you on the show! Hey, the tatoo I want is the Pisces symbol, which is 2 fish, would that count as a food tatoo :D ?

How did you know that I had ink, Jamesongrrl?

I like the idea of meeting Bourdain, but the concept of the shoot seems silly to me.

TATS?

PIERCINGS?

Only for amateurs.

If your serious 'bout self-mutilation, only voluntary amputation of a key body part shows true commitment to individuality

Anthony Bourdain is serving as a lightning rod, and he knows it. I thought Kitchen Confidential was fairly tame, but he was the first with an idea that has been festering for years. More power to him!!!!
