Went to Basta's last night with two orher couples.

Had not been there since one of their Tuscan Pig events several years ago.

The decor is probably as nice as a recycled Tasty Freze can expect to become. The bar and bar sitting area are small but cozy. The interior is warm, not romantic, but very accomadating

For a starter I had the clams in Pesto broth. The portion was slightly small for the price,$10, but not unfairly so. The clams were not overcooked. The pesto was minimally salty for me and a little heavy on the Parmesan, maybe the reason for the saltiness, but garlicky and good. The fact that a none bread eater asked for a refill on the bread basket to sop up the sauce speaks volumes

Other people had a salad with beets, which they enjoyede, but was not memorable. An order of Carpaccio was generous. I didn't try it but the person who had it liked it quite a bit.

For a main, I had the hanger steak. For $18 it was a generous portion. Hanger steak like Skirt, in my opinion should be served rare, and it was. It had been marinated in a garlicly combo and it was quite tasty The sides fine, a mashed potato and a sauteed vegatable.

Other dishes I tried from friends orders included a ravioli in Pesto (is there a pattern here) The ravioli was fine, but it was bathed in the Pesto which required wiping each piece off to actualy taste Pasta

Have to head to the gym to work off the dinner and it takes me an hour a line to type, since I hunt and peck with the worst of them

All in al a very nice dinner

Clams in pesto broth sounds yummy. My son and daughter-in-law had us over for dinner last night and she made us a linguine with shrimp and pesto, very good for a beginning cook! :)

Hitting the gym is a good thing, I just started back at mine with strength training on the weights! Thanks for the report! B)

Hi Tucker, thanks for your review ( very good hunting & pecking!) I guess we will have to give Bastas another try. We had dinner there a few months ago and found most of our dishes too salty or flavorless, but the service was very good and it was a cheerful atmosphere. I had expected things to be tastier since I read so many good reviews, but now I think we might have just ordered the wrong things.

Such a deal! Bastas 0wnz.

Even though it's also a deal, I strangely can't be bothered with Kells....

I just got one too. Thanks for the reminder. It took me three tries, though. I missed a number on the first try. Then it wouldn't let me re-enter because of a cookie issue, I think. So I had to open up Firefox and then enter again. Ugh.

Thx Angelhair for the heads up! Entourage reminded me at 9:40 - and I refreshed right at 9:45 on my mac and voila - the order form.

I bought two because I like to hoard.

I just got one this morning. There were still 30 left when I got on. So those who are still interested have an opportunity.

Best regards,

Amanda

Last batch had a 9/14/2007 expiration.

I'm down to one, so I'll probably snag a couple more.

Looks like a great deal. I'll do it. Not so excited about the other places on their roster though. Good for one year, one coupon per visit, not good for booze, coupon good one time (leftover can't be used another visit).
