When I'm downtown I make sure to grab a couple for lunch for lunch the next day for Mom and I. We love whole bowl! If I remember correctly there was something on the website at one time about bottling the tali sauce. I wish they would. I'd always have some in my fridge!

Just found this post. I see there is one at 9th and Alder too. Sounds like a must try for me -- with cilantro. :w00t:

Amanda -
Whole Bowl on our side of the river just went permanent, as in built out a storefront around where their cart is/was on Hawthorne (44/45th). They did a soft opening this week.
I don't have the exact address other than the space use to be a guitar store.

They certainly could!

Best regards,

Amanda

They could, but then it wouldn't really be the "Whole Bowl" would it? :w00t:

true enough, but the flavor of greasy grass isnt that appealing to me.

this is a veggie only cart huh? no chance of getting some carnitas subed in? :w00t:

maybe i could take my "partial bowl" up to Por Que No and get a side of meat!?

This is exciting to hear. It's mere blocks from my office and I have walked by it on occasion but never thought to give it a shot.

It sounds similar to Cafe Yumm and Yumm Bowls from Eugene (and Bend), which I hear is opening a Portland location soon?

I went by the hawthorne location this weekend and it looked like the shack was in the process of moving into a storefront there. Does anyone have more info?

I sent a note to Whole Bowl regarding the rumor they were thinking about bottling and selling the sauce. Here's the response I got:

Hi Amanda-
Sorry but we're not bottling the sauce. If we ever decide to then we'll have something on our site. Thanks for the feedback!

Best,
Tali

Boo hoo. All hopes laid to rest on that issue, I guess. No biggie. I can just go for a walk and get the whole deal at the Whole Bowl.

Best regards,

Amanda

I hit The Whole Bowl in the Pearl today based upon the positive feedback here and was not disappointed. Now that I'm about to move to SE, I'm excited to have a permanent location out on Hawthorne.

Mega thanks to sfl, AngryRhino, and nomnom!

Thanks to you all you all I got some original Yumm sauce yesterday and plan on testing it out in homemade Whole Bowl fashion this weekend. Kristi sent me an e-mail wanting to meet up for Whole Bowl yesterday, but I've been imprisoned in lunch meetings pretty much every day this week. When she told me about it later I was SO ENVIOUS!

Probably the next shot I'll have at Whole Bowl will be my own attempt.

Best regards,

Amanda

Just a warning about the Whole Bowl - don't go there before an interview/important meeting, as that sauce is quite garlic-y (but delicious) as I recall! Definitely pick up some breath mints or gum for afterwards :)

I keep looking for the Yumm sauce but it seems to be out all over town. Whole Foods and New Seasons has roasted garlic and chipotle but not the original Yumm sauce. I'll keep watching for it. Where'd you find yours, Amanda?

I'm not Amanda but I just saw it yesterday at the Food Front on NW Thurman @ NW 24th.

They had three kinds, including the original.
