#168988 Kukai ramen in Beaverton

We had a terriffic first visit today with PaulW.

 

I just loved their Tankatsu Shio Rich Ramen.  Upgraded to Pork Belly too.  By far the best Ramen in PDX.  Other places get the ingredients right, but no one else gets the broth even close to what it should be.

Note that no Alcohol is available (yet).   Licquor license in progress.




#168712 Beaverton's dystopian food future

I have repeatedly suggested to the Beaverton City leadership that they need to make changes if they want a new future for downtown Beaverton that includes making it a place the citizens of Beaverton want to spend their evenings.   Until they start listening to my ideas and others, Beaverton will remain a culinary disaster area.   We're grateful for the handful of hole in the walls like Yuzu & Hae Rim.  But there's not much else out there.   We did just get a so-so craft brewpub on Cedar Hills.

I've had good meals at the Jade Garden in Shanghai on 2 different biz trips.  But it's been a few years since I've been.

 

Portland's Chinese food scene isn't anything special.  We're fans of Lucky Strike because when they are on, it takes us straight to Cheng Du.  A weekend in Vancouver BC is better prep than here.

We finally made it back to Hae Rim to see how the new owners are doing.   While we miss the original owners, who we miss dearly, Hae Rim is in very good hands.  The food was as good or better.   :thumbsup:

 We were a tad nervous as we arrived a bit before 6 and the restaurant was mostly empty, but before long every table was full and largely from the Korean community.  Always a good sign.
