Mix magazine had a full page IBC ad for a new izakaya opening in Beaverton. There is no info in the ad other than this:

Sake Cocktail Bar
10053 SW Nimbus Ave.
Beaverton OR 97008
(503)646-1986

open 5-11:30 Seven days a week

Okonomi Yaki
Hanabi Special

I googled and came up with nothing. Anyone have any other deets?

Yahoo maps lists Maiko Japanese Restaurant at this address and with the same phone number. I know nothing about Maiko though I wouldn't mind some Okonomiyaki.

Hi, I do! I just finished redesigning the restaurant as of last week. It used to be Maiko Sushi and the owners wanted to update the restaurant to a more modern Izakaya concept, i.e. it is now a Japanese style tapas restaurant. The website is now live as well: http://www.hanabis.com and there is more info. on the site. They are planning a grand opening event in November, either the weekend of 11/13th or 11/20th where you can try out their fabulous food and drinks at special introductory pricing!

While they are open now, the Hanabi's grand opening weekend has been changed to the weekend after Thanks Giving. It's a great place to have a cocktail and some tapas-style Asian food. Here are the details from the press release:

Hanabi Restaurant's Opening Weekend to Benefit Oregon Dream Makeover®

(BEAVERTON, OR) – Each dish sold at Hanabi’s Restaurant during its grand opening weekend, November 27th – 29th will benefit the local nonprofit organization similar to Extreme Makeover called Oregon Dream Makeover®. The restaurant’s grand opening weekend will start Friday, November 27th at 5 pm, at 10058 SW Nimbus Ave., Beaverton, OR 97008, and end Sunday at 11pm. During this grand opening weekend customers will receive special pricing on the food items as well as cocktails and other items from the bar.

"We think having Oregon Dream Makeover benefit from our Grand Opening is a perfect way to celebrate our success, while helping out a most worthy cause." said owner Kinuko (Kay) Thompson. "This arrangement is the first of many ways in which we intend to contribute to the community."
Hanabi’s restaurant is a Japanese style tapas restaurant, where you will find a unique dinner menu of small and tasty Asian and NW cuisine dishes that emulate the well-known tapas found in Spanish cuisine. Hanabi's provides an inviting, warm and mellow ambiance that one often encounters at an izakaya, which is a Japanese sake house where food and drink can comfortably be savored. However, at Hanabi’s you'll find more than sake on the drink menu, including cocktails, wine and beer. The restaurant will be open for dinner 7 days a week…

Hours of Operation:
5 PM to 11 PM Sunday through Wednesday
5 PM to 11:30 PM Thursday through Saturday
Happy hour:
5 PM to 6:30 PM and 9 PM to 11 PM
Address: 10058 SW Nimbus Ave., Beaverton, OR 97008
Reservations Accepted: (503) 646-1986
Website: www.hanabis.com

Hanabi's restaurant was originally Maiko Sushi and the owners decided they wanted to update to the more modern Japanese izakaya bar & bistro concept. Hanabi's is a mother/daughter operation, both of whom grew up in Japan. Kinuko (Kay ) Thompson, the mother, has been a professional chef in the United States for almost 40 years. Kay's daughter Toyoko Rickert is a restaurateur and the creator of Hanabi's. Toyoko created the fabulous menu and concept of Hanabi's. This mother/daughter team has been the recipe for a special Japanese pub experience that is guaranteed to please! The restaurant re-design was completed by Ragan Corliss, Interior Decorator & Principal, Interiors by Decorating Den: www.DecDens.com/raganc, 503-710-6091.
