What happened to Kodi's Coffee House in Multnomah?

Mr P and J noticed that Kodi's Coffee at SW 45th and Vermont closed on March 5. He had enjoyed walking the dogs over there on Saturday mornings for his usual white chocolate latte with a shot of creme de menthe (purist, he's not) but now he has to go to Village Coffee.

The man who owned Kodi's wanted to open something on a larger scale, so we hope that he's doing well, but to just close the place... Does anyone know what happened to his coffee shop?

Our dogs miss Kodi, the mixed breed dog for whom the coffee shop was named.

I believe that the owner has closed Kodi's and doesn't plan to open another place.

The Vet next door is, I think, going to take over the space.

We noticed a sign for a new coffee place on our way to Hillsdale this afternoon. I think that will be at least the 4th coffee place in that location. I believe the first incarnation stayed around the longest.

What location are you referring to, Calabrese? I haven't been out and about much lately, but I saw a red drive-though coffee hut behind the Shell station at 45th and Multnomah.

The drive-though place Mr P and J used to like, in the parking lot of the porn store on Barbur and Capitol Highway, has changed hands and the new owner hasn't yet learned the art of making a good cup of coffee, I'm told.

The strip mall at 45th and Vermont is where we saw the sign for a new coffee place. The original coffee place at the location went in years ago around the time we first met, before I made the mistake of moving to Deforested Hypes (since corrected by returning to this area).

That place is called Espresso Works.

Calabrese was referring to the space that Kodi's just vacated. I think the name on the new sign is "Vermont Hills Coffee" or "Vermont Hills Cafe."

That's the old name, Jill. Kodi's replaced Vermont Hills Cafe. It will be interesting to see if the vet does take over the space - she expanded from her central storefront toward the Gabriel Park OHSU clinic a year or two ago. But I digress.

I just wish the best for Kodi's "dad".

Ahh, they must have just put the Kodi's sign over the Vermont Hills sign, then. It looked like they were dismantling things and there was a huge dumpster there...I guess the old sign was in the process of being taken down.

I don't know about her coffee, but I can tell you that Espresso Works on 45th and Multnomah is the closest location for you to get Little Pots & Pans savory tarts. ;o)

Yeah, Bruce that ran Kodi's is a nice guy. Sorry to see them go. They made a nice Latte.
