Ordered a pizza from Hammy's. It was cold, had hardly any sauce, and was skimpy on the toppings. I called to complain and was told by the guy who made the pizza that it was a good pizza and he wouldn't remake it or credit us. So my wife walked the pizza back to Hammy's and returned it -- the guy making pizzas wouldn't even acknowledge her. She left the pie on the counter and walked out.

What amazes me is that all they had to do was remake the pizza (what's the cost of a pizza? $2?) to keep a customer. As a result, we will never order from them again, which is truly a shame. They're in our neighborhood, and we'd like to support them, but this was not the first time we were disappointed by their product and we have finally learned our lesson.

We ordered from there not long after they'd opened, becasue we also are in the 'hood. It was TERRIBLE.You know those conveyer belt toaster ovens one finds in college dorm cafeterias? Where you put your bagel in and walk away and get the rest of your food and then come back to find your bagel a mixed raw/charred mess, along with all the other bagels that time (and students) forgot? That is Hammy's.

It's a shame because it would be so great to have good, cheap pizza close by.

I've ordered from them twice. Each time, their calzone has had one long, uncut half-cooked strip of bacon running through the middle, so I can only assume it's done purposely but I can't imagine why. A pizza with scrambled egg smelled nice but the crust was extra cardboard.

I also hear they have problems with their drivers banging on random doors at 1 AM when they can't find their delivery.

Late night delivery. Great idea, abysmal execution.

Ordered pizza from them once for dinner to have it delivered. No problem. Pizza was meh, but dealable.

Couple of weeks later, ordered pizza for dinner to have delivered again. "No, I'm sorry, we don't deliver to that area." B-b-but I just had pizza delivered by you two weeks ago! "Well, we only deliver there after midnight." This was at 6:00pm! "Well, we'll deliver pizzas out of the area if it's slow."

I'll make sure never to make that mistake again. I'll just not bother to order any pizza from them.

I've had several pizzas and calzones from Hammy's. They've all been pretty good for what they were, pizza after midnight. Let's face it, after midnight dining options are curtailed drastically, especially those which are relatively fast and either deliver or offer convenient carry-out. Yes, compared with Apizza, Ken's, Flying Pie, or any of the other truly GOOD (or great) pizza places in town, Hammy's doesn't really hold up (at all). However, when compared with any of the fast food drive-through options or chain pizza shops, Hammy's fares pretty well.

Their crust is on the thicker side, soft and chewy, even a bit doughy. I'd prefer a little more crunch (or any really), but it doesn't really bother me either. For people who obsess about the perfect crust, this will almost certainly be the sticking point for you. The sauce has a nice real tomato flavor, good but not particularly assertive. Generally I've been very pleased with the quality of the toppings. I often go for the King Earl's Deliverance, which is pancetta, bacon, sausage, and extra cheese. Yes, it's a heart attack in a box, but generally that's what I'm in the mood for if I'm thinking about getting pizza after midnight.

As for the service, I've never had any problems, but I've only gotten delivery once (reasonably prompt) and the other times picked it up. It's always been hot and fresh when I arrive.

No, I probably wouldn't ever get this pizza if it wasn't right on my way home from downtown, and good for that late-night hunger when options are limited. However, it is, and from time to time, I do.

You're either joking, haven't smoked much pot, or in possession of some amazing shit that causes said memory loss.

Either way, Hammy's pizza isn't too good.

Received a letter from Hammy's a day after lodging my complaint. Not sure if it was written by the manager or who, but she apologized for the way the matter was handled, offered to return my money, and gave us a credit for our next pizza... Can't say when, let alone if, that day will ever come, but I appreciated the gesture.

Okay, it's been a few months and I feel I must revisit my post. While I still feel the same way about the pizza (mediocre, but respectable for the utility of getting even a respectable pizza at some of the hours they're open), I must revise my opinion of the place in general.

I tend to like ordering a pizza to pick up on my way home in the wee hours of the morning (between am and 3am, usually on the weekend. The last two times I've tried, Hammy's has proved utterly worthless. About a month ago I call at around 1:30 and tried to order a pizza to pick up. I told the wait would be around an hour and a half. Um, what's the point?!?! Then, last night, around 2:30am I tried to call in an order and they said they were, "closed for pickup." Yeah, that part of their business that doesn't require them to pay someone to drive around and deliver their food was not available. That's both highly inconvenient and an incredibly stupid business model.

If you want a mediocre pizza after 2am by all means give them a call, but have a backup plan.

Slapped late night pies as a youngster. My drivers and I were at least as high as the customers.
